The Video Conference Each school participated in a Virtual Excursion to the Western Plains Cultural Centre to view a gallery tour of the Archibald Prize on the 4th August. Each school then worked on their own portraiture skills as students learnt about the art of drawing.2 students from each school who showed natural talent or promise in this area of art were chosen to participate in an Intensive Art Workshop.
The Workshop
The Intensive Art Workshop was held on Monday 24th August at the Annabel Wallace Gallery in Murringo. At the Intensive Workshop each student worked with an artist and teacher (Katie Burchell), the gallery owner (Annabelle Wallace) and were also supported by a teacher's aide (Sylvia Edwards). All materials were provided as well as a morning tea and lunch.
The students worked really hard on the day, producing some excellent portraits. They worked with senior acrylic paints and stretched canvases to produce a portrait of somebody who was special in their lives
The Archibald Exhibition is touring rural NSW and making a pit stop at the Cowra Regional Art Gallery. Some schools will be taking advantage of this opportunity and visiting the Gallery to view more of the artworks. Find out about the exhibition and the Gallery here.
